The Tour of Discovery - something a little more leisurely...

Not everyone wants adrenaline adventures! At Happy Valley we have a fantastic location with 1600 acres of farm and forest paradise. We have put together a "Tour of Discovery" so that everyone regardless of age, interest and fitness can enjoy the stunning scenary and views.

Ride in comfort

We have a luxury 10-seater 4wd minivan that we can use to travel around the farm, so you can visit all the beautiful locations and scenary we have to offer.

Mareikura - the world's oldest Matai tree

Your tour will include a nature talk about our "noble lady", Mareikura. At 37m tall, this tree is the oldest known Matai tree that remains standing, set in beautiful native bush. Your guide will be able to tell you key information about the tree as well as some of the other native flora. One of Nelson's best kept secrets, this tree offers an amazing connection with the ancient forests of New Zealand.

Treetops

Next on tour you will get to visit Treetops, the cafe base at the start of the Skywire flying fox ride. From here there are great views out over the valleys and towards the coast, as well as all the facilities and comfort you would expect from a cafe stop. Treetops' kitchen only operates for large bookings, but we can easily offer a range of refreshments including a glass of wine or a cold beer while you soak up the views.

Bayview scenary

Happy Valley is located minutes away from Cable Bay and Delaware Bay, and your tour will include stunning views of this area of the South Island coast. Your guide is able to inform you of the local history and key events that have occured here. The farm has many "picture opportunities" but the view out over Delaware Bay is always a favourite.
